ALLERGY AWARENESS TRAINING FOR SAFER SCHOOLS
Creating a safe learning environment means every member of staff understands how to recognise and respond to allergic reactions. First Aid Academy Ltd’s one-hour Allergy Awareness & Emergency Response course provides practical, consistent training for the entire school team, helping staff feel confident when managing allergy-related incidents.
Designed specifically for schools, the session supports your responsibilities under Benedict's Law – Section 34, Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Act 2026, ensuring staff understand current expectations and best practice for allergy safety.

UNDERSTANDING BENEDICT'S LAW
Benedict's Law was introduced following the tragic death of five-year-old Benedict Blythe, who died from anaphylaxis at school in 2021. The legislation places clear responsibilities on schools to improve allergy safety and emergency preparedness.
Schools are required to:
-
Have an allergy safety policy
-
Publish the policy
-
Keep the policy under regular review
The accompanying statutory guidance also expects schools to:
-
Appoint a named senior leader for allergy safety
-
Keep spare adrenaline devices available
-
Deliver annual allergy training for all staff
-
Review allergy procedures annually and after serious incidents or near misses

FLEXIBLE WHOLE-SCHOOL TRAINING
Our one-hour training session fits around the school day and can take place during staff briefings, INSET days or after-school training sessions. Training the whole staff team together helps ensure everyone follows the same procedures, understands their responsibilities and is prepared to respond confidently should an allergic emergency occur.
Alongside our outdoor first aid training and paediatric first aid courses, this training provides schools with practical, scenario-based knowledge that can be implemented immediately while supporting the review of existing procedures and compliance with Benedict's Law.
