Overview of necessary steps to deliver an ITC Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) course
1. Attend 2-day Induction event. This give you Assistant Provider status which enables you
to advertise any ITC course and allows you to gain access to all ITC resources and user access to ITC
web-office.The 2-day induction
courses are geographically spread across the UK. To find out dates and
venues go to Trainers section of ITC website to determine which initial 2-day induction
event suits your needs.
2. Contact the Provider (website or telephone) delivering the ITC Induction event to book on their course. Cost £490 + VAT. Dates and venues for First Aid Academy run Provider Inductions are at the bottom of this page.
3. Meet initial criteria to deliver (ITC documents PR1, PR3). Key qualification criteria:
a. Current CV
b. Current FAW certificate from any HSE approved organisation
c. Have or verifiably intend to gain an adult education qualification
4. Prepare the delivery of the ITC 1-day EFAW which includes developing your own lesson plans and Scheme of Work for an EFAW course.
5. Organise and deliver an ITC 1-day EFAW course within 3 months. This course acts as your Assistant Provider assessment. A senior trainer will video and observe you running this course. This fee for this is included in the £490+VAT if the course you deliver is in the same region as the Provider Induction course. If the venue for your course is based outside the region of the Provider Induction course an additional fee will be charged to cover travel time, accommodation and expenses.
6. One of two probable outcomes
a. After successful organisation, delivery and assessment of an EFAW course complete undertaking document (PR12) and join the list of approved ITC Providers.
OR
b. Be referred with an Action Plan for another opportunity to meet the above criteria.
This decision may be appealed. Your second assessment day will be charged at approximately £300+VAT.
7. Approved Providers can advertise any ITC qualification, develop ITC Centre operations and
ultimately deliver those ITC qualifications for which they have a business need and are
approved to deliver.
8. ITC advertises your courses. ITC charges are £12.50 per candidate pack. This fee covers the ITC accreditation function, office hours telephone and email advice/support, ITC professional
development events, tailored course manual, candidate first aid consumables and qualification
certificate.

What income can I make from becoming a trainer?
For individuals attending an open course current Providers charge approximately £95 per person. With up to 12 participants allowed on each course that's an income of around £1000 per course.
There are of course additional costs; insurance, purchasing equipment, travel and venue hire. However even using conservative estimates by the time you run your second course you should be making a profit!!
