Paediatric First Aid

Paediatric first aid training is required by EYFS Statutory Framework and Ofsted for all primary schools, nurseries and early years providers (those dealing with the under 8’s)

STOP PRESS - Now Nationally Accredited First Aid Academy now delivers the only Paediatric First Aid course on the National Qualification Framework.

This course meets Ofsted first aid requirements for registered childminders and the requirements for first aid for nannies under the Department for Children, Schools and Families Approved Carers Scheme. This course meets the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage Statutory Framework.

The course focuses heavily on dealing with child and infant first aid. All our Paediatric course trainers hold an enhanced CRB disclosure.

This children’s first aid training can be used as evidence for employees working towards an NVQ in Childcare and Education.This is a 12 hour course and is usually delivered as two 6 hour days, or 3 four hour twilight sessions.

This course follows the guidelines of and was approved by the NCMA (National Child Minding Association) and the PLA (Pre-school Learning Alliance) until July 2005 (NCMA & PLA no longer validate training organisations).

The National Childminding Association states that
"All childminders in England and Wales must hold a valid paediatric first-aid certificate when they register. In England, the first-aid course must be recognised by Ofsted and the childminder's local authority. The first-aid certificate should be updated on a regular basis - every three years or so, in accordance with the issuing body."

Government guidelines for child carers state that first-aid training must cater for practitioners caring for children in the absence of their parents, be a minimum of 12 hours, cover what to include ina first-aid kit for babies and children, demonstrate resuscitation techniques using models of babies and children, and give practitioners a chance to practice on models of each age group and include how to record accidents and incidents appropriately.

Our course dates

First Aid Academy with a number of Nurseries as there preferred First Aid supplier to deliver Paediatric First Aid courses. The Academy has also trained a number of specialist trainers from the Child Care and Nursery sector to deliver our Paediatric courses so clients receive the best input and advice from sector experts.
