This remote first aid course is suitable for School Journey Leader, Duke of Edinburgh Coordinator and MIDAS minibus driver.

For Forest School Practitioners the Academy can deliver a specially adapted Outdoor course which includes a large element of Paediatric First Aid. Please call the office for more details.

First Aid Academy Wilderness first aid courses are practical, fun and innovative.


Course is ideal for ecologists and fieldworkers. The Academy runs these courses for a number of ecological consultancies and the Institute for Ecology and Environmental Management (IEEM). 

This is a 16 hour course approved by Qualification and Curriculum Authority (QCA). First Aid mountain biker accidentAcademy works with ITC First Aid, which is a recognised Awarding Body, accredited by QCA that has approved to deliver Outdoor First Aid courses. QCA has accredited this course to the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) at Level 2.

Our Outdoor First Aid courses are bench-marked against current National Occupational Standards, are well resourced, tailored to your specific needs, use modern training methods and are delivered by approved trainers.

First Aid Academy runs expedition first aid courses for those travelling abroad as GAP students or expedition leaders. The outdoor first aid course is delivered to expedition leaders of a number of trekking and holiday companies, these include Exodus, KE Adventure Travel, Mountain Kingdoms, HF Holidays, The Ramblers Association, Schools Worldwide and Walks Worldwide.  

The Academy is listed by the Royal Geographical Society  as recognised providers of Outdoor First Aid training.

Partnership with the Institute for Ecology and Environmental Management
First Aid Academy is now running Outdoor First Aid courses for IEEM. IEEM are the professional body that represents and supports ecologists and environmental managers in the UK and Ireland. It provides a variety of services to develop competency and standards in ecology and environmental management. We are running three courses with IEEM in 2010. First Aid Academy and Mountain Bike Instruction are teaming up to provide an enhanced service to Mountain Bikers in the UK.  Mountain Bike Instruction run the nationally accredited Mountain-bike Instructors Award Scheme (MIAS)which has a first aid certificate as a prerequisite of passing the course. First Aid Academy is now the preferred training provider for Mountain Bike Instruction.

Funding for Ministry of Defence staff
This course is accessible for funding for Ministry of Defence Personnel (Army, Air Force and Navy personnel)through the Standard Learning Credits (SLC) Scheme. Click here for more information

We deliver outdoor first aid training nationwide and specialise in outdoor first aid in Cumbria (Carlisle, Barrow, Kendal, Keswick) and outdoor first aid courses throughout Lancashire and North Yorkshire. Venues include Preston, Lancaster, Skipton, Bolton, Morecambe, Burnley, Blackpool, Blackburn and Manchester. The Academy also has training venues across Yorkshire and the North East (Durham, Darlington, Middlesbrough, Newcastle and Gateshead).
