Footsteps of Shipton expedition success.
Footsteps of Shipton Expedition 2009.

From December 2-20th 2009 the expedition team (Cory Jones, Martin Akhurst, John Shipton), crossed the southern Patagonian ice cap.  They used the original route from the first crossing 50 years earlier by the famous explorer Eric Shipton (John's dad). After tent damage the team made an emergency descent via the Marconi Pass 60km short of their intended end point. However they successfully completed a rare unsupported north-south traverse of the third largest ice cap in the world.

Weather conditions were unseasonally snowy which slowed the progress of the group with daily distances ranging from 4-24km.

The group provisioned the whole expedition in country.

From July 5th we are happy to announce the formation of a training partnership between First Aid Academy and Adventure First Aid. Adventure First Aid is an ITC First Aid Provider based in Devon. Guy Risdon has been running Adventure First Aid for eight years and is now taking a sabbatical to become a Paramedic. Guy was looking for someone to manage Adventure First Aid and since he and Cory Jones, First Aid Academy Training Director, have worked together for the past few years it was a logical partnership to make.

For clients of First Aid Academy there is now even more choice for venues and dates for courses, as well as bring into the network some new trainers with new skills, making your courses even better.

For clients of Adventure First Aid the above is true, however as First Aid Academy will be dealing the managing of bookings for courses. There will be an improving office and admin process including an office phone answered 9-5 Monday to Friday, option to pay for courses online and much more.

Over July the office systems of both companies will be synchronized. if you spot and glitches on our documents or websites, please let us know.

For any more information give our main office a call on 0844 3571 426.

Tricky bricky.....first aider to the rescue

Groundwork Pennine Lancashire:  Outdoor First Aid course 24-25 April 2010

Liz Hinchliffe, Team Leader of Groundwork Pennine Lancashire approached First Aid Academy to request a last minute booking for an Outdoor First Aid training course due to the sudden and unexpected cancellation by their current providers.  First Aid Academy were delighted to be of assistance and the following feedback was received from Liz on behalf of the course participants.

'I'm writing to say thank you for the excellent first aid course you delivered at the Haslingden Sports Centre last weekend.  I've received very positive reports from attendees of the course who were thoroughly impressed.  Thanks also to the trainer who the attendees really warmed to.  Also one of the group had to practice his skills this week on a man who had been 'bricked' on the head on the tow path.  The newly trained first aider, administered first aid, patched him up and took him to the hospital.  The hospital commented on what great skiils he had.

We will definitely bear you in mind for future courses.'

'Thanks again and I will certainly recommend you to our partners and other Groundwork Trusts.'
