First Aid Academy takes the Skills Pledge

First Aid Academy makes the pledge to develop its staff and associates effectively.

theskillspledge_v1_rgbWe are the latest company to join the growing band of those who have joined Skills Pledge. The Skills Pledge aims to achieve a shared understanding of the value of training and encourage businesses to invest in skills accordingly.

The Skills Pledge is a voluntary, public commitment made by an organisation to invest in the skills of its workforce. The Skills Pledge is open to organisations of all sizes, from all sectors, with a workforce in England in the private, public and voluntary sectors.

It's a promise that the employer will work to realise the potential of all their employees by developing their basic skills and working towards relevant, valuable qualifications. By making the Skills Pledge employers commit to train their workforce to at least Level 2 – the equivalent of five good GCSEs, grades A–C.

Many organisations choose to use the Skills Pledge as a starting point, going on to help employees gain higher-level qualifications. To ensure employees’ skills meet their industry standard, we encourage businesses to make this commitment a long term investment by raising their targets beyond the Level 2 benchmark.

Employers who make the Skills Pledge can also access the support of a Train to Gain skills broker at no cost to their business. Skills brokers not only establish a company’s skills needs and design a tailored training package but they also source funding to help cover the cost of training.

BCU Aquatic First Aid

BCU Aquatic First Aid

BCU (British Canoe Union) First Aid course requirements are delivered by First Aid Academy. All active Coaches have a responsibility to maintain a current first aid award, to ensure they can look after paddlers in their care. BCU Coaches sign a declaration upon registration for our Coaching qualifications accepting this responsibility. Holding a valid first aid award is also part of the BCU Coach Update Scheme; Coaches who meet these requirements are recognized by the BCU as being active and up-to-date.

In order to meet these requirements all BCU Coaches (except BCU UKCC Level 1) need a recognised first aid certificate recorded on their Home Nation Association membership record.

First Aid Academy delivers ITC First Aid courses and works under HSE Centre Number 1690/96 hence is a recognised provider.
