First Aid at Work
First Aid at Work for workplaces with a high hazard rating
First aid training is required by law for all companies and businesses. The Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 require employers to provide adequate and appropriate equipment, facilities and personnel to enable first aid to be given to employees if they are injured or become ill at work. These Regulations apply to all workplaces including those with five or fewer employees and to the self-employed. To see the HSE Guidance click here.

The Academy can provide you with a FREE 'First Aid Hazard Assessment'.
Since the regulations for first aid in the workplace are changing give
us a call and we will help you decide what level of training your staff
team requires and how many staff need training.
You might be surprised and only require the new Emergency First at Work qualified staff on your site. Even if you require a First Aid at Work qualification, the good news for employers is that it requires only 18-hours training not the previous 24-hours.
First Aid Academy is approved by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) to run First Aid at Work training courses under approval centre number FAAMS 1670/96.
How often do I need to be reassessed to keep my training valid?
With the new First Aid at Work qualification there is a requirement to be retrained every 3 years, however this 'Refresher' training can be for 12-hours as long as it is within 3 years and 28 days of you previous course end date.
Additionally the Health and Safety Executive 'highly recommend' that first aiders undergo an annual 3-hour refresher course. Working with First Aid Academy you can deliver your refresher training in-house FREE of charge.
First Aid at Work
Employers need to provide first aid care on their premises for staff and have a duty of care towards all visitors and users of their facilities. Many organisations send one or two individuals on these 18 hour courses.

Emergency First Aid at Work
If a first aider is not legally required, an employer must still appoint a person to take charge of first aid provision, and this course provides that person with the necessary knowledge to do so. This course is also ideal for lone workers, employees of smaller low risk organisations and any individual who wants a solid grounding in basic first aid.
This six hour course is one of our most popular and fun first aid courses and provides a good basic insight into first aid procedures and skills. Hands-on practical exercises help delegates learn basic life support skills and improve their chances of coping in an emergency.
