First Aid Academy

I am a first aid trainer already.......

I am a first aid trainer already. I need to deliver accredited courses through an alternative pathway.

First Aid Academy works with ITC First Aid Ltd to run accredited courses from the National Qualification Framework, this includes nationally approved Emergency First Aid at Work courses, Sports, Outdoor and Paediatric courses. ITC First Aid is an educational Awarding Body. We also run HSE approved training (Emergency First Aid at Work , First Aid at Work and FAW Refreshers) through Immediate Temporary Care (FAAMS Number 1670/96).

To cross over to become an ITC First Aid 'Provider'

1 Attend a 2-day Trainer Induction course
Once you have successfully completed our Trainer Induction course you will receive your own comprehensive Trainers Pack and Logbook containing a CD of course images, teaching notes and a DVD of how to deliver the key course components
2 Hold a current First Aid at Work certificate
3 Be seen teaching and assessing a 100% of an Emergency First Aid course
This is to ensure new trainers can train and assess to the required national standard. There are a number of mechanisms to achieve this.
4 Hold a current teacher training qualification (By September 2010*)

Some trainers may already have an FAW Certificate and teaching qualification, they are exempt from stages 2 and 4.

How much will all this cost?
Trainer Induction course costs £490 exc VAT, depending on the assessment route you choose the assessment can either be free or up to £130 exc VAT. After successful completion the training process support and advice, is FREE to the ITC Trainer. The course administration, office support and certification is extremely efficient. ITC has a national brand and all your courses will be marketed on their website to help you gain more participants. However ITC charge a candidate fee of £12.50 per student when you are delivering courses. This covers the costs of a manual and certificate for every participant.

What income can I make from becoming a trainer?

For individuals attending an open course current Providers charge between £80-90 per person. With up to 12 participants allowed on each course that's an income of around £1000 per course.
There are of course additional costs; insurance, purchasing equipment, travel and venue hire. However even using conservative estimates by the time you run your second course you should be making a profit!!

I am interested, what should I do?
